Dating After Divorce: When Is the Right Time?
You decided to meet and on your first date things go great. Generally everything feels wonderful. However there is one problem: I had touched on a similar topic last year in my post my boyfriend has kept his online dating profile active.
If you’re an older woman getting back in the dating game, it can be daunting to decide if someone is the right age for you. And more often than not, the question is, “Is he too young for me?”.
Originally scheduled as a lunchtime meet, it lasted all day and into the night. She never heard from him again. Another friend met a guy who she was half-heartedly interested in. He kept trying to pick up the pace of things and after some initial reluctance she let herself get swept up in it and started to trust him and her feelings increased. Mentally go through your loved ones, and consider just how well you really know them. Or you might get lucky and realize you do. The best thing to do is simply to put in the time, hang in there, and wait for it to happen.
Truth is, getting to know someone varies on two factors: Everyone opens up at their own pace. While some people take months, others take years. The longer you know each other, the better. Upon meeting someone for the first time, you develop an idea of who that person is, and how they work. It may be real, it may be miles off, but you already have your mind set.
Some people start dating right when they decide to separate and or move out, perhaps because their marriage has been over for years and they have felt alone for such a long time. Others wait months or even years, due to the trauma or shock of the divorce , because they lack self-confidence, or possibly because they just need time to heal. There are so many variables in dating after divorce and what the right time is.
